Department of physical rehabilitation and physiotherapy

This department works specifically with neuromotor and sensory impairment caused by brain injury, in other words, with movement disorders derived from them.

We have a spacious work area with wide, hydraulic examining couches, a large area with mirrors parallel to each other, wall bars and private work areas for individualized physical therapy using successful, state-of-the-art technology consisting of four computerized biofeedback systems for treatment and assessment of neuromotor impairments (EMGbiofeedback), muscle tone disorders (Myotonometer) and tremors and equilibrium problems caused by cerebral lesions called Remyocor 2.1. This system is unique in Spain due to its characteristics and, since 1997, has had excellent results.

Other neurological and physical therapy techniques are used in treatment of brain injury with personalized applications for specific clinical characteristics in cases such as Vojta, Bobath, Neuromuscular Propioceptive Facilitation (FNP), Therapeutic Cognitive Exercises (Perfetti), propioception and physical therapy techniques necessary for other resulting disorders.

Our programs assist the speech therapy department in an interdisciplinary way with disorders of the orofacial tract for swallowing and facial muscles and expression, as well as respiratory tract problems which interfere with phonation and swallowing.

In conclusion, the aim of our treatment is to give the patient an optimal level of functioning in order to be independent.
